Virginias historic garden week is a unique eight day event often called americas largest open house it allows visitors to take a peek at stunning gardens in full bloom and amazing houses. The garden club of virginia operates as a non profit organization comprised of 47 member clubs and 3400 volunteers. Last week the garden club of virginia celebrated both season and heritage with the running of its 85th historic garden week the largest open house in the country.

Each spring visitors are welcomed to more than 250 of virginias most beautiful gardens homes and historic landmarks during americas largest open house this 8 day statewide event provides visitors a unique opportunity to see gorgeous gardens at the peak of virginias springtime color as well as beautiful houses sparkling with fabulous. In spring over 250 of virginias most beautiful homes and gardens welcome visitors from all over the us. Historic garden week 2020 cancelled. The beginning of historic garden week dates to 1927 when a flower show organized by the garden club of virginia raised an impressive 7000 to save trees planted by thomas jefferson on the lawn at monticello.

Because of this extraordinary situation the garden club of virginia has made the difficult decision to cancel historic garden week 2020.
